Conversation with George Newhouse, Director of the National Justice Project and Cherisse Buzzacott, Chair of Rhodanthe Lipsett Midwifery Fund, Midwife and Managing Director of SpeakWrite Consulting. Hosted by Jess Wishart, Managing Director of SpeakWrite Consulting
35 years on from the 1997 Bringing Them Home Report, one in three First Nation’s children are living in out-of-home-care (OOHC). Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children make up nearly half the children in OOHC, but only represent 6% of all children in Australia. Babies are still being taken in staggering numbers from their mothers in maternity wards before they can even hold them for the first time. These numbers scream for independent scrutiny. Join us for a frank insight into a broken system, in a conversation between an extraordinarily informed and insightful panel.
